26/27 Forest Hill Wishlist

A few weeks ago there was an official Notice posted on this establishment, as I recall it was a licence review following complaints (happy to be corrected on this). Interesting to get the outcome.

Yes saw this too. Should result in some interesting pop ups!

The Signal now does live jazz each Sunday in its renovated upstairs venue, and live comedy and music multiple times a month.

As someone who misses The Hob (aka pub before The Signal) I wish the signal did more live music on the Rock/Indie spectrum.

The `bird in hand’ does Jazz nights too and not everyone likes Jazz…

AND It’d be great to have a local choir based at The Signal..

One of the things that drew me to Forest Hill was witnessing The Hob crammed with 200 or more sweaty geezers (and geezeresses) having their ears abused by a loud rock band.

It would be great if they took the step of shutting the car park at the entrance to Forest Hill station. Could be a decent space for more retail too.

That would be great I agree, the further you are from the station the tougher it is for business so to have something there would hopefully support the high street

Me too..that and St Davids..

We had some brilliant nights at The Hob, and I used to love the ‘Rock Choir’ that used to perform downstairs on occasion..great fun for a singalong.

The Signal always seems very lacking in atmosphere somehow..only been a few times since it opened.

With Smiths going (and possibly William Hill going the way of other betting shops) there’d be a lot of space to do something really nice with the station entrance.

The main car par park in Perry Vale needs to have a pedestrian access point to the station, with a ramp and if necessary a lift and/or escalator. Only in Forest Hill is it possible to have a huge car park adjacent to the station which has no pedestrian access to the station. As Colin wrote in the thread about Sainsbury’s in London Road, Forest Hill specialises in everything being in the wrong place, which feels like a perpetual

general conflict of movement

Generally a ‘wishlist’ has a destination e.g. Santa. Where’s this one going?

I recently went to the Camberwell Community Sauna (and cold plunge) for the first time. It is good, but it does take up a lot of space, as it needs to in order to host: four different saunas, two plunge pools, showers (for rinsing off between sauna and plunge), hot showers (for afterwards), changing cubicles and lockers for users’ possessions. It’s also surrounded by planting and trees, which makes if feel nicely secluded. It has the scale to offer women-only sessions, and a cafe nearby. By contrast, I was in Devon a couple of weeks ago and keen to investigate the many saunas that have popped up. Disappointingly, these were not much more than a single cabin, some of which had stunning views (but were just on a field, with no additional facilities), or in one case, in a car park. I wasn’t tempted to use them, especially as you couldn’t book single-sex sessions. What scale is the sauna you are proposing and which model do you think you have space for?

There’s a new leaseholder for the TG Jones shop, so that won’t be knocked down.
