Unfortunately, plans are afoot to relax flight noise limits.
It’s Government policy that fewer people be disturbed by flightpaths, so the flightpaths are narrower, more rigidly adhered to, and lower.
Fewer households disturbed sounds good, unless you’re under a flightpath, in which case the disturbance becomes more intensive. This is the policy.
I think expansion will be horrendous for Forest Hill in terms of air and noise pollution (which could be more severe given our elevation).
We’re part of the Heathrow and City airport concentrated flight superhighway.

I agree that Heathrow expansion will bring more noisy aircraft arrivals over this area. It is not yet possible to predict where the noise corridors will be as flight paths are all up for a redesign, now passed on from the airports to UKADS.
Forest Hill Society has consistently argued at meetings and consultations with Heathrow and London City and UKADS that their flight paths must be separated in this redesign so that no community suffers being under the flight paths of two different airports. We have managed to get this principle into the airspace design principles at both airports.
Meanwhile there is every reason for anyone concerned to make a consultation response. As well as the Possible guidance above, Heathrow campaign group HACAN has published a helpful response guide on the kinds of things people might choose to say. On noise, economic claims, pollution, and much more. Treat it as a pick and mix, depending on what matters to you and what your own views are, and add in a few local things to make sure our SE London perspective is noted.
