The mission statement (before we used such terminology) of Frederick Horniman and his museum was “Bring the World to Forest Hill”. While watching the opening of the Winter Olympics and seeing all the flags and designer team outfits, I couldn’t help think about this awe inspiring idea and how we should reference it thematically when we get the chance. I just feel it captures a highly distinctive brand identity for Forest Hill and yet it has the ‘stretchy’ quality that it is suitable for a varie…

Better still, it updates it because it articulates the idea of bi-directionality, and in that sense it further develops the notion of BTWTFH from its first intended meaning (as a description of the museum’s original purpose).

The announcement gives the idea of ‘moving forward’ toward an (ongoing) exchange across world cultures as we attempt co-operation in establishing intercultural understanding.
