Kelly Holmes at local park run

Olympic legend Kelly Holmes ran at Beckenham Place Park on Saturday. Although she says she’s not in shape, she came 14 th and broke the women’s record. Not too shabby. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1CfSpETY4z/?mibextid=wwXIfr

I gave up running long ago - but love a sociable walk around that park !

For non Facebook folk here is what she said

DAY 131 - SINCE INJURY - I AM GETTING THERE!

I went to Beckenham Place parkrun today, Wow, what a stunning park!

Stunning location they had a great turnout 432 walkers and runners. Weather was nice. The footing is tarmac, woodland and compacted gravel/ sand. It was undulating but apparently more down than up - however it was definitely up to the finish line

Lou did it too and strapped me up before I ran- I am getting there, but found it really tough today. My arms were aching the whole way and I had a conversation with myself throughout the whole run, things like there’s lots of people in front of me, my arms, legs and breathing were heavy. I was counting down the Kms.

I can’t be too disappointed first woman, first of my age group, 14th overall, the thing is when I am running is I feel like I’m not flowing and I know I’ve still got a long way to go, that becomes frustrating as a runner, but I am grateful that I’m back running :clap:t4: I’m just trying to still being patient. Kind of! :grimacing::face_with_peeking_eye:

Follow my Facebook page Dame Kelly Holmes Official, put your photos under this post for a chance to be in this week’s video. WELL DONE to all of you that’s committed and showed up.

Proud of you :clap:t4:
