Can I propose rbmartin to receive the ‘Freedom of Forest Hill’ award for providing invaluable services to local public transport users? The reliable regular bulletins about upcoming scheduled engineering works have been greatly appreciated in our household, and we have come to trust them more than other official sources.
If any of you would like me to do my rail updates over here and it’s fine with @rob then I’ll start with an update next weekend, until then, this weekend’s can be found at the other place.
Same! I rely on his posts on the Other SE23 forum.
(I have Nottinghillbilly as my username there) and like you I trust them more than the LT emails.
rbmartin provides a really valuable service to us locals who rely on the trains.or work in town at the weekends.
I no longer live in SE23, so I don’t benefit from rbmartin’s generosity of spirit in taking the time to research and share information to help his community, but I’ve seen what he’s done for people in the area over many years and I agree that he fully deserves recognition by way of some sort of honour.
Another person who I believe is deserving of similar credit for many years of service to our community is Michael Abrahams.
Absolutely! It is a well loved and well used notice, and I assume the two sites have different audiences these days. We’d really appreciate it, and thank you in advance
I’d second Michael Abrahams who was very welcoming to me when I used to be part of the Forest Hill Society. I was on their transport committee for a few years in the 2010s.
I reckon there are several local residents who have made notable contributions to the life of Forest Hill. Perhaps we could use the Forest Hill Society AGM as an occasion to recognise and appreciate these individuals (perhaps one per year). Not sure if we’d need a new committee (awards committeee?) or whether the Executive Committee might be happy to manage it?
