When I saw this mentioned on the news yesterday I noticed my own knee jerk reaction was negative even though I have followed this story for years.
I thought it was strange that I had experienced a negative reaction, then I realised it was a symbol of the frustration we are all experiencing about being promised a better future, but we have to wait 15 or 20 years.
So I thought about it again this morning (to try to think it through again properly) and I was glad to be reminded of our predicament. We don’t easily switch between thinking about the future in different time horizons, 1 day, 1 week, 1 year 10 years etc.
This was something I had been thinking about for Albion Millennium Green and our understanding of what the millennium commemorative projects were about.
With the FHS 20 year event which happened at Stanstead Lodge recently I do believe we must stay mindful of how we can facilitate our collective conversation within and about different time horizons.
So I am grateful that this news triggered this realisation.
