The excellent Big Cheeks Thai is moving out of David’s Road, and has a new premises in Wandsworth - but they have also done a deal where they are taking over the kitchen next door at The Signal for much of the week (the pub will still be doing Sunday roasts). Passing by today there is building work in the right hand side of the old restaurant, which I think will become a residential unit, but it wasn’t clear what the plan is for the left hand side. If anyone finds out it would be interesting to know.
The planning application was only for changes to the first floor. The restaurant footprint remains the same, although some changes might be implemented that would not require a change of use. Changing from restaurant to residential would require a planning application.
Oh that’s a shame. My wife loved that place and we’ve had many great evenings there.
It will be interesting to see how they adapt in The Signal.
Thanks for letting us know
Us too - they were giving out Big Cheeks menus in the Signal when I was there last Thursday, so the new plan is already up and running
That’s interesting Michael; I actually asked someone who was in the kitchen side of the restaurant just now, and that was where the suggestion half the place would become residential came from. I do hope some form of restaurant stays on the site as it’s literally the closest commercial property to our house.
Agreed. A real pity though. We sometimes used their takeaway at weekends.
