Brand New Choir Starting at Aquarius Golf Club. Song with a View!

Hi Folks. I am starting my first evening choir for 10 years. I thought there may be some folks here interested.

It’s in a beautiful space in Aquarius Golf course overlooking the London skyline (see attached posters). Some of you may remember me from directing Goose Green Choir, and I have also guest directed Nunhead, Streatham and The Festival Hall choirs. I ran a community band for a few years before the pandemic and directed the South London Cares choir in Peckham (for isolated elderly people) before its scandalous funding withdrawal; we did a lot of Reggae!

In recent years I have been running songwriting workshops in schools, teaching privately and focussing on my own creative output, putting together a band called PrettyTrees - you may have heard us at local venues. We put out an album last year and have another one on the way. There are lots of lovely vocal arrangements in the band, a number of which I have expanded for choir, so you will be singing original songs as well as some Bowie, Elton, Shins, Joni, Clash, Soul, Ska, Reggae, Folk… We tend to lean towards the less well trodden path, so many of the arrangements are our own, including a banging non denominational Christmas song.

Each to their own of course and we need all kinds of choirs, but I like the sound of voices making the music so we won’t be using any backing tracks, just a bit of guitar here and there, and perhaps other acoustic instruments (violins flutes etc) as time goes on. If there is a great bass line or killer horn part, we’ll be singing it!

The choir starts on September the 7th. Most likely the sessions will be 7 to 8 30. It is £40 pounds per month subscription (this gets you access to my lunchtime and online choirs as well) or 12 pounds per session if you can only come now and then. I don’t want anyone missing out due to lack of funds so all the usual concessions apply. Just let me know what you need.

Look forward to singing with you soon.
