Cargo Bikes Need Crossovers Too

Should councils start recognising cargo bikes in crossover and street access policies?

At the moment, residents can often apply for dropped kerbs and access protections for cars, usually linked to converting front gardens into driveways. But there seems to be very little equivalent thinking for cargo bikes, especially in densely parked streets and conservation areas where residents may not be able, or may not want, to pave over their front garden.

Manoeuvring a larger cargo bike safely onto the road can be difficult where cars are parked tightly along the kerb, sometimes requiring it to be pushed along the pavement for significant distances.

If councils want more people to move towards cargo bikes and active travel, should there be more practical support for road access?
