A surviving stone spire designed by Sir Christopher Wren from the demolished City of London church, St Antholin’s (Budge Row), is located on the Round Hill housing estate in Forest Hill, South London. The 17th-century Portland stone spire was saved from destruction in 1875 by landowner Robert Harrild, who moved it to his manor house garden . Has anyone visited or seen it ?
There is a bit of information about it here:
I’ve visited it a few times. If you want to know where to find it:
Such an interesting ‘lost church’ to read about.
The tour guide Jack Chesher has incorporated it into a lovely walk.
Thankyou have given it a read. It is fascinating a part of it still lives on down the road.
