Colourised historical images

There are a few black and white historic photos of Forest Hill available in archives around the place, including the amazing archive put together by Steve Grindlay and available on flickr (link below).

However, have you ever seen these come to life in colour?

A friend of Forest Hill (who was involved in the planning for Forest Hill Town Centre development you can read about in another topic) has used AI to add colour to some photos from the late 19th and early to mid 20th century.

I thought I might share them here for you to see our old station in full colour. I think there are still some members here who remember when this building was standing as it was only demolished in 1974 I believe)

There’s a fascinating collection of post-war images taken by tram enthusiast Barry Enefer and donated to Bexhill Museum after his death. Several show the tram routes serving Forest Hill up to the “Last Tram Week” in July 1952 when London’s tram services were withdrawn https://www.bexhillmuseum.org.uk/access-centre/bexhill-transport-and-engineering/barry-enefer-collections/the-tram-collection/london-areas/101-159-hr2/
