For any jewellery needs, I always used to enjoy going to Hamiltons on Dartmouth Road, which sadly closed and is now another nail bar.
I was stumped about getting jewellery repaired locally, so let a family heirloom ring which had broken, lie unrepaired in my bedside drawer for years.
However, I recently discovered that Beth, from Richard Burton Jewellers is happy to pick up items from anywhere around Forest Hill and Sydenham, to bring them in for repair or modification in their workshop.
The communications throughout the process were super-clear, and it’s the best repair I’ve had on this ring which dates back to 1900 or so that I can remember.
Hopefully they’ve effected a fix that means the fragile piece will not break the same way again.
The price was also great - I was initially quoted about the same as I paid Hamiltons the previous time I’d had to get it repaired - though I opted to go for the jeweller’s suggestion of a more robust approach, which cost a little more in the end.
