We are calling for traffic calming and a safe pedestrian crossing at the junction of Perry Rise and Garlies Road in Forest Hill SE23.
Vehicles often travel too fast along Perry Rise. The junction sits near the crest of a hill, making it difficult for pedestrians and drivers to see one another. This is a residential area where children, older people and other local residents need to cross the road, yet crossing can feel frightening and unsafe.
I live above The Stuffed Walrus with my two young children. We recently opened the pub as a family friendly place for the community, and many families visit us. We see and hear cars speeding past at all hours. I worry that someone will be hurt if nothing changes.
We ask Lewisham Council to assess the junction urgently, speak with local residents, and install effective traffic calming and a suitable pedestrian crossing.
