Matoom - any news?

I was alerted to the fact that Matoom has now been shut for some time. Does anyone happen to have any news about this?

I think they had an issue with a water supply and shut in order to get that fixed they also had some redecorating on the exterior (possibly interior tooI dont know..)there was a sign on the door I believe they reopen this week.

they were advertising for extra staff too

Matoom still looking very closed. Did it reopen and then close again?

It opened for a day or two then closed again with a sign pasted up about a leak.

That sign has now been taken down and I saw the shutters were up a few days ago (Friday?) and someone in there but did’nt look like they were trading yet

I’ve been missing Matoom enormously, but got a tip off this week that it’s now operating out of Sparsh (meaning Sparsh now has an Indian + Thai offering). I just went there to collect a family takeaway, and was chatting to a very friendly chap (not sure if he was the owner or a waiter). He told me that Matoom has closed permanently (due to lease issues) and will be re-opening somewhere outside London - however, their chef is now working with them at Sparsh. I can confirm that it’s the same delightful Thai food that we would regularly get at Matoom (albeit our favourite starters were no longer on the menu) - and we also took the opportunity to try some of Sparsh’s Indian offerings (never having been there before) which were equally delish. Definitely plan to go back and eat in.

Thanks for the update.

I was wondering about Matoom just today, I noticed Sparsh had noted on the board outside that they now do Thai food but had no idea it was actually Matoom’s chef who had joined them.

The whole Matoom closure is a mystery as they had signage advertising for staff (chef and waiting staff) at the same time as they had a sign about closure due to issues with the water supply…then they seemed to open for a couple of days then close.

We will deffo now try Sparsh when we fancy a Thai now.

Thanks again.
