I’ve seen them once or twice before, but this year I think I’ve counted 4 or 5 dragonflies of different sizes and colours in my garden. I don’t have any water feature, and I don’t know of any in the vicinity, so I was a bit surprised. They move too fast to take a good picture, but here’s one I took in my garden a couple of years ago
Does anyone know more about the habits of dragonflies, and if we are seeing an increase this year for some reason?
That’s wonderful. I have no idea re the habits but I have noticed that my garden has been full of butterflies the last couple of weeks, and I can’t really remember seeing many of those before. I wonder if the warm weather is a factor.
There were some remarkable blue dragonflies when we went to beckenham place park lake for a swim last weekend.
Our neighbour has a wildlife pond in Devonshire Road, which is a great source of magnificent dragonflies.
