TG Jones Closing Down Sale

There are bright yellow “Closing Down Sale” notices in TG Jones windows today. Staff told me that the Post Office will close at the same time.

nightmare..so the only Post-office will be Lordship Lane?

Which invariably has a queue out of the door.

No Banks locally, No Post Office…

I use the Sydenham post office - well organised , in and out in no time

295 Stanstead Road will be the other PO alternative in SE23.

I suspect most will use Sydenham, followed by East Dulwich.

I never knew there was one there, mind you I seldom go to Sydenham,

Now I have a reason to do so,

Thanks

There’s also one next to Le Querce. However one shop locally expressed an interest in running a PO should the opportunity arise, which was advertised recently. Who knows if they could actually make it happen though

The PO in Forest Hill Road (opposite GP Practice) is another option that I sometimes use.

I spoke to the Post Office a while ago about this and they confirmed that they’d received at least one promising application from another local business to host their services in the event TG Jones closed down. I’ll reach out to them again and see if they can share anything about their current plans.

Long queue inside Sydenham Post Office whenever I’ve been past on a Saturday.

Fair point - never tried it on a Saturday! :slightly_smiling_face:

Most of the alternatives need a car to get to. I hope that if a replacement does open in Forest Hill it is not upstairs. I found it impossible to stand in a queue on the staircase.

Yes..that is a problem, I’m a bus ride away from Sydenham and Lordship Lane, and the I’d have to walk to Forest Hill road which again is a bit of a trek including uphill much of the way (I don’t drive.

Apparently the Government still own the Post Office. So time to write to local MP and ask what they are doing about it?
