The speed humps of Sunderland are fixed

As many of us know, the speed humps IN Sunderland Rd are important, however a few have been in terrible condition for quite some time now…

Good news, they have finally been repaired.

On a serious note.. The other day there was a large fire in Sydenham, and watching Forest Hills turntable ladder coming up the road and creeping over the worse of the humps was painful to see.

As a passionate advocate for the fire service, it saddens me seeing a response delayed like this.

On the other hand, I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen large and powerful cars take this as a shortcut at huge speeds just past a primary school and all the houses.

While I understand that it might slow an emergency vehicle a few seconds, they only use it a tiny fraction of the time, while traffic goes past this all the time and needs calming.

My point isn’t that they should be there, but they should be passable at a sensible speed.

For those wishing to smash the hell out of their cars to be speeding idiots, square humps aren’t going to stop them.

The tiny fraction is the TL coming to a complete halt at each one then easing over it. The time lost is not insignificant. Meanwhile Church Rise has the speed cushion slalom.
