I just discovered that work starts tomorrow on Waldram Crescent - which is the section of the South Circular that goes under the railway bridge at Forest Hill Station.
It seems that work will start tomorrow and last until 8th April.
Do we know if they’re doing some more substantial remedial works to actually improve the resilience of the pipework in that section of road? Or is it just emergency works again?
Great photos, but what a mess! It is such a pain to try to get home (I was stuck in the traffic for almost 30 minutes yesterday on my way home from a trip).
I do hope they complete this work soon, and that they do not have to dig this section up again for a long time … but I’m not confident that this will be the case
What usually happens in typical Thames Water fashion is once the repair is completed, another fault develops further along the road.
This happened when Thames dug up at exactly the same part of Waldram Crescent that another burst water main was at the Devonshire Road junction just after the original repair.
I imagine the building built on the current site of the roadworks can’t handle the amount of water being consumed by the residents, alas an upgrade of the water pipes.
That is what is happening time and time again, they literally just chase a weak pipe down the road, then come back to weak connections to building supplies up and down the road.
Just look at London Road as an example. Outside Sainsburys has been dug up multiple times almost in the same spot.
That reminds me, time for a check in on Waldram Crescent… time to launch. Brb…
