Watch battery replacement

Strange (for some), and maybe old-fashioned request …

If you had to have a watch battery replaced, where would you go? I have several older watches in need of batteries and I mainly used to use the jeweller on Dartmouth Road until it closed. I think I found a stall near London Bridge once, but I rarely go there any more.

Where else can one get a new watch battery these days? Or do all watches have to have rechargeable connections these days??

Timpson at Bell Green (in Sainsbury’s)?

Mr Cobbler on London Road opposite the gym.

I didn’t realise he did watch batteries as well. Has anyone used these places for their nice watches?

One of the batteries I need to replace is for my “Mr Jones” watch which was a present and I want to take reasonable care of it

I’m not sure whether a Pulsar counts as a nice watch, but he replaced the battery in mine for £15 a few weeks ago. Alternatively, do either of the Mr Jones premises on Dartmouth Road provide that service?

Oh, and he also replaced the battery in my wife’s Mappin & Webb for the same price.

Mr Cobbler is worth it for expensive watches, but when I wanted a Casio replaced, it was cheaper to replace the watch than the battery!

Another place I use for replacement batteries or strap replacements is Solitaire Jewellers in Penge. They’re reasonably priced.

Thanks all

I popped into Mr Cobbler just now and had both watches done - one was £20 (Mr Jones) the other just £10 (Swatch) so worked out the same as the expected £15 each

I’ve used him for keys and shoes for years, but didn’t know about the watches.

Yes I used the one on Lordship lane to replace a battery on an expensive watch..

He does watch repairs of Rolex/ Omega etc so I trust him

Edited to add..I just saw you went to Mr Cobbler.
